Just read a draft copy I had. This is awesome, and I can only imagine the finished project. The way he explains things is well done so a non-mil type (like myself) understands.
Now, a warning...if you don't want to be reminded how important PT is to everything we may need to do, then don't read. On the other hand, if you need motivation to get into the gym to do the right kind of PT for what we will need to be doing then this books for you.

Erick: My apologies, I never answered your question. I really like Max's writings, and I have read all his books, including "Contact", both editions, "Rapid Fire", and the fictional novel "Patriot Dawn". His books are full of good, solid info on the subject. The only complaint I have, and this is just me, is that his terms and formats are from the UK MOD. Which is not to say they're bad, but for me are sometimes difficult to read and interpret into the lingo I'm used to. Mosby speaks "my language", as it were, so it's a lot easier to read and study. With Max I have to "translate" his terms into what I'm more familiar with. Now that being said, if you're a civilian, with no former frame of reference, then you could easily adapt his terminology and drive on. It's really good stuff and I have been meaning to delve into it more. But I will be honest and say since his buddy Aaron called me out over there that I've cooled to the task.
I like what Max is doing. I have no real problems with his doctrine, although I may differ a bit in my focus. I think Max has stated in his writings that his focus is on light infantry T,T,P's, for an organized militia, or whatever you want to call it, against a statist regime. So his whole business is built around the concept of learning team fire and maneuver in a woodland environment. Which will prepare you for inclusion in a larger unit. This is all well and good. It may very well come down to that. However, I believe there is a lot of ground to be covered in between now, and then. I am more focused on more near-term events that may very well lead up to this, but then again may not. I'm talking about an economic down-turn, political upheaval, and whatever accompanying events that may occur. Case in point, the Ferguson riots.
What I like about Mosby is he includes not only the U/W mission, but the FID one as well. Just to review, the U/W (unconventional warfare) mission, what Max is focused on, is mainly the armed resistance to a tyrannical regime. It's goal is to tear down the current status quo. The FID (Foreign Internal Defense) mission is about helping the current regime stay in power. It's goal is to preserve the status quo. The FID mission (or for our purposes, the DID mission, Domestic Internal Defense), is more akin to what we're trying to accomplish, in defending hearth and home. So it depends on your estimate of the situation, and what you see yourself having to do. If you are trying to survive in place, or "holding your own", then the FID/DID mission becomes your focus. If you plan on bugging out, and joining the "resistance", then U/W is your focus. If you want to join the resistance, but plan on staying in place, as an auxiliary in an urban area, you might do a combination of both missions.
So in my estimation, what Max is doing is mainly focused on "green ops" (woodland warfare), and not so much on "black ops" (urban warfare), and I have stated as much on his website or blog. I think we need to be training for both. Whether you're just trying to stay out of the way, or actively resisting the regime. A lot of folks are stuck in urban areas, and may not have any choice but to stay in place.
What Mosby is doing with his writings is expanding to cover not just the active resistance unit, but the auxiliary as well. So he has the more complete package. Max has a good manual with "Contact" which compares very well to Mosby's "Reluctant Partisan, vol 1". But Mosby continues on with "Reluctant Partisan, vol 2", which gets into the underground support infrastructure necessary to support the active units.
Bottom line, I like Max's books, and I'd still like to come train with him some day.
