What's that in the top right of the picture?

Not really. The colors are slightly different than OCP and the pattern is different too, as are the features of the uniform itself.

What's that in the top right of the picture? What? There's nothing there. That's classified top secret.

Good vid- really shows the tonal changes they made to each iteration.

a few thoughts:
the Afghan OCP looks a lot more blended than multicam or scorpion.
calf pockets are a great way to stash a tourniquet.
I like velcro on the cuffs, especially when its a bit colder.
overall, i agree, great design changes.

Agreed... the Afghan OCP does look more blended, while regular MC and Scorpion are more defined, for lack of a better word.
Never though about a TQ there... might have to give that a try.
I can live with Velcro on the cuffs, I just personally prefer buttons if I have a choice. Not a deal breaker either way for me really.

I like velcro on the cuffs, especially when its a bit colder. overall, i agree, great design changes. OCP for Afganistan (which IIRC is now being called OEFCP) is Multicam. Straight up RFI purchased for a theater-specific need. New OCP (Scorpion/Operational Camouflage Pattern) is Multicam-lite, to my mind. And if one of the military news blogs was right, I can't remember which it was at the moment, the Army is paying royalties for Crye Precision to use the Scorpion base pattern the same as if they'd just adopted Multicam force-wide anyway! [sarc] Go Army. [/sarc] Agree about the calf pockets and TQ or a spare pressure bandage. Done that with a pair of ACU-pattern (but not UCP color!) trousers for hiking a few times. Looks like most of the changes are positive...but the camouflage pattern is something that was ready to go in 2003-04 when the first ACU trials were ongoing. I'm glad the Army eventually made a better choice, but....ugh.

Not sold on Calf for a TQ for what these were DESIGNED for (IE big army, fighting against IED wankers) because chances are you'll lose the TQ when you loose the better part of your lower leg. THAT SAID, I can see how it would be potentially useful for AC, but I still think the shoulder is the best place, one either side.
Same shit applies for buttons and zips - It's all frag damage. I couldn't give a shit about frag damage from the perspective of an AC, and therefore buttons are CHAMPION. I dislike zips because they have a habit of breaking and aren't field repairable, whereas I can sort a button out, even if it's only a short term fix. I like how they've changed the angle of access, but it seems perhaps you guys work backwards to how we would perhaps work; If I wanted something quiet I'd go for the chest, generally trauma gear is for the arms.
The key for that whole thing is making sure everyone is carrying in the same place to some sort of SOP, so that everyone knows where all the important things are on each other. Beyond that where you carry is, to a degree, unimportant.
I think this stuff is better'n ACU/OCP, but I prefer my MTP stuff (which STILL isn't right, but it's better. I'd prefer MTP style arm pockets and DPM style shirt front pockets, for preference. Stuff you might need quietly in the front pockets, lanyarded in. Stuff you need when you've been shot, stabbed, blown up etc in the arm pockets, out of the way.)
Naturlich, YMMV.

Not a fan of the neck Velcro either hawk. Id rather see button with a Velcro secondary than a zipper... The UA combat shirts I've come across are zippered but buttoned everywhere but the cuffs.which I like buttons there but like the Velcro in winter for fast on off. Just don't care for the poly rip fabric UA uses.....plus their sizing sucks!
As for the pattern...50ft away I doubt many can tell the difference especially once wear /tear is involved. Honestly washed out /faded MC tropic is what I'm digging outside of aor2. Make the MC a Tad greener /darker and id prolly have more love for it.
