That's stupid to put it down to a 15" barrel, yeah. The body of the Tavor is going to stick forward too much, to what you want to do with it though, I think.
But, yeah, AR-15 pistols, those are so cool. I'd prefer mine to be in .300 AAC Blackout, though.

I've seen it done with the SA80 carbine - this is ugly as all hell, and it's require the furniture changing, but I think you could at least drop down to a 12 or so inch barrel.

That looks like what happens when someone turns an AK into a bullput, terrible.

It's not sexy, but I hear it does the job for the blokes who use them... (Tank crews, helicopter pilots - loaded with a 20rd mag so it doesn't catch to much.) Remember this was done for the military, for as cheap as possible. It aint ever going to look pretty.
additionally; that's actually the old carbine. can't find the new one.

4track,
have you had any issues with the super KAK tube? its about an inch longer than a mil spec buffer tube, which makes me think it would mess with buffer spring compression. I just built my pistol (using the KAK super tube, based on your review) and will take it to the range in a few days, but wondering what your experiences were past 1000 rounds.
I put an ST-2 and a springco blue spring in, hopefully that works with my BCM 12.5 upper.

While the KAK tube is slightly longer than a standard carbine receiver extension, it is so only externally.
The rear most portion of the KAK tube is solid aluminum; thicker than standard, which makes up the difference. (I also feel that the extra weight helps to balance my gun better)
Internally, it has the same exact dimensions as a standard carbine receiver extension.
I just shot one of mine, yesterday, in fact.
I use a standard carbine spring, and I have never experienced a problem with the KAK extension.

So I just changed out my KAK Sig Brace tube with the Shockwave tube and wrist stabilizer. I also added a QD mount for my suppressor. Preliminary thoughts: Pictures coming soon!!

Do you mean, like one of these? Indeed, these Shockwave Technologies Blade Stabilizers are very nice. They are slimmer, lighter, and more durable (and far less retarded looking) than the SB15. Also, because these blade stabilizers allow the shooter's forearm to rest against either side of the receiver extension, rather than directly below and inline with it (as with the SB15 ), they actually do work in the manner for which they were originally designed to be used: one handed shooting. As for misusing the Shockwave Bladeā¦.I won't do it, and I cannot recommend that anyone else do it, either. The BATFE has been pretty clear on their new, magical, re-interpretation of the law, (design versus intent) and they spelled it out as such, quite plainly, on the approval letter that they sent to the manufacturer of these blade stabilizers. Unfortunately, it is what it is, until the law can be challenged, and/or changed. LIke I stated, earlier in this thread, if it ever came down to the BATFE retracting their original stance, as they now have, - outlawing the misuse of the SB15 brace (or similar devices) - then I still would continue to use my AR pistols. They fill a very narrow and specific role for me, quite well. In light of this, I have learned how to operate my AR pistols quite well, without misusing them (i.e. not pressing them against my shoulder or chest). I can easily get off hand, first round, hits out to 100 yards, while still operating from within the bounds of the law that we are currently tied down with. Pressing out against a single point sling (MP5K style) works well, too, and the Blade Stabilizer is also more comfortable to rest a cheek against, than a bare receiver extension is. By the way, the new KAK Shockwave specific receiver extension is made to their typical high quality of design and manufacture. Of note, however, is that the outer diameter of the extension is greater than a standard carbine receiver extension. Therefore, certain fully enclosed armorer's wrenches, suck as the Magpul one, probably will not work on it, as I don't think it will be able to slide off the tube, after torquing the lock ring down. Any type of half circle, spanner type, receiver wrench should work just fine. For example, I used a Tapco armorer's wrench, on mine.

johnlangdon,
I would really like to see how your pistol turned out, but the photo is not working, for some reason.
