Man, those KAK tubes really look like the way to go, when using the SB15!

...How do you like the new Magpul SL stuff? I really like the MOE-SL hand guard set and I hope that they will eventually make them for mid length and rifle length guns. It is very thin, side-to-side, and tall, top-to-bottom, and this oblong shape feels very natural and comfortable in my support hand. The extended shielding around the sides and bottom of the front sight base virtually gives a carbine gas gun the same length hand guard as a mid length gas gun. The M-LOK system is nice, too, although there are very few after market accessories out for it yet. Given time, however, I predict that M-LOK will dominate the market for negative space direct attachment. I think that it is a much better design than Key Mod. Although not an SL product, the K2 grip that I am using is also very well designed. It feels a lot like a BCM MOD-3 grip, only a little more blocky. It has a very nice texture to it.

AR Pistol lower will be completed tonight (except for SB15 brace). I got a ALG Defense ACT lower parts kit from PSA. It's a mil-spec trigger but a big step up from a standard trigger.

PSA has a 12" upper with charging handle and BCG for $399.00. Here are the specs. I can't imagine that a 1/2" would make that much of a difference.
Barrel Length: 12"
Barrel Material: Cold Hammer Forged Chrome Moly Vanadium Steel
Barrel Specifications: Extra-thick Chrome-lined Bore 5.56mm NATO Chamber 1 in 7" Twist Rate
Bolt Carrier Group: M16 Full auto profile carrier Carpenter 158 Bolt Grade 8 Gas key Screws

PSA has a 12" upper... I can't imagine that a 1/2" would make that much of a difference... Actually, on a direct impingement gun, that extra 0.5" length of barrel beyond the gas port makes all of the difference in the world. That is why 11.5" guns are so much more reliable than 10.3" guns. A 12.0" would be even better.

Here's the finished pistol! I have a primary arms md-ads mounted. I like it. Its a budget optic but seems to be better built than my vortex.

Thanks, Hawkeye! Couldn't get the photo to show via my phone.
I like it. It seems like the perfect length for an AR. It just feels right! Can't wait to try it with my suppressor.

Mine is the 12.5" BCM barrel. It was built with a purpose in mind, and a lot of help from Hawkeye and Diz. Being the med guy for the tribe, with the shorter barrel and overall length of the weapon, I can sling it to the rear and the muzzle stays out of the dirt when down on my knees treating a patient. My 16" dug the muzzle into the dirt when treating a patient and I would have to take it off and lay it on the ground. This way my rifle is with me at all times if something happens. Now you might say, well I see guys putting it behind their knees and keeping it there. I would then ask, have you seen that person move from head to toe with that rifle positioned behind their knees or were they static? As a medic treating someone, you will likely need to move around from head to toe and possibly from side to side. Also, you may need to keep low behind cover. Maybe low as in behind a fallen log. Keeping my rifle with me is important. I have a sidearm as well, but if I needed to get "back into the fight" having my rifle will be better. Attachments:

Well, you know, you could've gotten a Tavor, if the length of your primary was big consideration.

I'm waiting for someone to come out with some sort of conversion to SBR a Tavor. That will be a thing of beauty.

Oh, I know THEY'VE got one. I want to be able to either convert, or purchase a second one that's SBR'd. There appear to be a couple of kits to put a 15" barrel on it, but that seems pointless. If you're going to do it with a Tavor it needs to be a big S - down to 10 inches or so
