Very nice. Why not go with something like an RMR for an optic? Low profile, doesn't obstruct FOV, and if it's washed out you have those irons anyway?

Even though we all know training is more important than gear I decided to enter my two basic DayFighters. My NightFighter is in a separate thread somewher eon here. One LWRCM6A2 w/ EOtech , 14.7 inch factory pinned, Troy Pistolgrip (am experimenting w/ the slightly changed angle over milspec), Daniel Defense VFG, and B5 systems stock in Kryptek Mandrake, inforce WML on front left. As it's my primary training rifle it's had a recent barrel change and is going on 20,000 rounds in last 2.5 years. The gun below it is a DI Frankengun, but from milspec+ parts only ....16 inch Noveske barrel hydrodipped in FDE, seekins precision lower, Vltor Mur1D Upper , NiBo BCG+bolt, B5 systems kryptek stock and rest of rifle hydrodipped in Kryptek. It runs a Blackhawk VFG as a DanielDefense VFG would not fit (picatinny attachments slender + too tightly fitted to the Geissele rail, gets in the way on the top of the DD VFG )

Id say training is just as important as gear... You cannot have one w/o the other. but to keep on topic..

While I dont like to derail threads but: Training IS more important than gear. Why? A simple thought experiment will give you the answer. A poorly trained (knows how to shoot but thats it) out of shape dude with a $2000 rifle and $1000 optics who is running Mk318 Ammo out of TangoDown mags will still lose and lose badly when he is up against a trained combat arms soldier or a civilian trained up to a similar level (via multiple classes at quality schools) who runs a Olympic rifle w/ a 100 dollar optic, USGI Mags and 24 cent/rd russian ammo. This difference becomes even more extreme when you are talking about Teams... groups shooting it out magnify training difference even more than a 1-on-1 . gear is fun and I enjoy it as much as the next guy.. but the skills we pick up in training are invaluable. The guy in my example would quickly improve his gear anyway via battlefield pick-up from the geared-out but untrained guy. So we dont derail the thread maybe we should break out these posts into a seperate thread....

You just made my point for me. Thank you. I'll say it again: Training is just as important as gear..Regardless of skills set, motivation or intentions- ppl need gear, period. Harsh language, hopes and dreams, and good intentions will not keep you fed, dry, warm and well rested. Dirty looks wont discourage marauders or bandits either. You need a gun just like you need other gear for other tasks. Its just a fact.
As to gear being "fun", to me gear is a group of tools needed to complete a task. Never much thought of it as fun. It's work to me. Ive always thought if someone is having fun they weren't doing real work with it. I enjoy completing a task or reaching an objective, but I never thought of ti as fun. But that's just me..

PSA Midlength all Magpul, with EPT (Enhanced Polished Trigger) it's the first PSA I've owned, I've owned Colt and Daniel Defense rifles before, and I have to say that this is pretty good in comparison to those, it's been a good rifle so far. Got a few things to add to it in the future, I think a Primary Arms ACSS will be next on the list.

Finally got my PWS mk111 SBR ready. Standard AR lower (nothing fancy) PWS mk111 Piston upper, 11.85" barrel - adjustable piston system for use with ammo choice and/or suppressor so you can find the right balance of bolt velocity and not have a ton of blow back in your face. Piston parts are easy to find for these too should I ever need them. Comes with Bootleg, Inc (sister company to PWS) PicMOD rail - genius design to me. Note: No forward assist. RailScales HTP Honeycomb panels for some heat mitigation and grip. Streamlight RM2 light, 800 lumens - awesome for the price. Surefire is way behind them at this point. SilencerCo Specwar 556k - back pressure isn't awful but could be worse I guess. Good can for the price. Primary Arms red dot.

This project has been a couple years in the making. I wanted to build an M4 CQBR clone, and this is the progress I've made so far. At this point I just really need to add an optic, but not sure what I will go with yet. Being a "clone" , I am limited to just a few models that would have been issued with this platform. CQBR build : RAS hand guard KAC forward grip and panel covers 10.3” Colt 6920 barrel chopped by Adco Colt upper Colt bolt/carrier assy Colt LPK PRI gas-buster charging handle Surefire 952 weapon light with IR filter Chopped A2 rear sight KAC NT4 suppressor mount CQD rear sling mount CQD sling CAR stock 4 Pos receiver extension H2 buffer Colt/BI lower on form1 Colt A2 grip
