I'm kinda surprised it's already on the surplus market.
A friend of mine has a full rain suit in MC and it kinda works here depending on his background, of course. If price point is a huge factor, and people are buying MC because it's cheap, than simply getting OD of RG colored gear brings the whole suit into a far more woodland color scheme much like wearing OSW with coyote of tan gear makes the whole setup far more arid.
ETA- "here" would be SE Alaska. A coniferous rainforest ie. green as fuck.

I'm going to check my surplus store out, usually they're pretty on top of things. I'm definitely interested in the MC Tropic pattern, because OSW tends to be a good pattern for me in MI, but I have to say, the transitional nature of the older MC may work as well.

MTP (DPM in Multicam tones, in essence) Has been on our surplus market since it went on general issue to the military. It's decent stuff. As has been said in this video, and as is touted by most official organisations that use it; It's a go to pattern. It's a general purpose tool. It's like your 'basic' knife, not your fancy doohickey for singlehandedly killing a whole tree, nor for gutting a mosquito. But it'll cut wood well, and serve nicely to gut a deer etc. You'll see the British in Afghanistan still carrying their old DPM, and they'll throw it on over the top sometimes in the greenzone, or very particularly for night ops. The IRR treatment and colour combination is pretty damned awesome, and MTP/Multicam is very much a transitional pattern. (Ideal for an expeditionary force operating around the globe... Or for someone who wants a halfway decent set of gear for cheap from a surplus shop, that will work OUTSIDE heavily wooded/desert areas.)

There is a surplus guy out at our local flea market that has a lot of multi cam bdus. So it is starting to hit as more troops cycle back and start replacing old gear.

Thats a good looking uniform Hawkeye ; )
I think that as the army transitions to scorpion (aka multicam) I think the surplus market will suddenly be a viable option for uniforms.

I agree. As the OCP hits the surplus market, this pattern is now a viable choice for us.

I decided a couple weeks ago that I was wanting to go multicam as my main set up. I just need to find an on line dealer to get some from.

As usual, Chuck is nailing it. I am interested in checking out the mc tropic. Reminds me a lot of the old school ERDL pattern that I ran around in.

Cost and availability are big factors for me when buying gear. Multicam is OK in my AO so I'm excited about seeing it. Plus it is one of the best things I have seen for NV. Had to make a multicam cover for my Helmet recently. I'm really excited about seeing it cheaper.

I like it...I used to use OD a lot. Still use it a little. I live in Texas where there is a lot of cedar but also a lot of dirt and dry areas...multicam works very well for going in and out of the cedar bush...darker colors and darker greens work great in the cedar but make you stand out when you're not around it or in it. Multicam arid might be a slightly better choice but multicam is already here and great gear in 500D and Tyr Tactical's PV material are already standard items.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like since green is most visible on the color spectrum to the human eye, it would make sense that browns blend better with greens than greens do with browns. Also, light colors would seem to blend better in darker areas than dark colors...i.e. woodland may not blend in with the 'khaki colored' hay and grass we have down here.
In any case I think there is a reason why most animals are brown or grey...those are more neutral colors which blend very well as the eye doesn't pick them up as well as it does green...even some of those pics from max velocity show green rucks standing out on a mostly brown and black dirt earth...
With multicam it's a very dull green so it can blend when needed.
Just my thoughts
