Iraqis have a habit of doing this circle the wagons bullshit and then all huddle in the center of camp while a few of them fight. I see it a lot of it in these videos, one dude will be shooting at an inbound ISIS gun truck and will have to reload, then next one steps up and gives it his best shot.
You can see this video that the terrain is fairly flat and clear of cover. Yet, they were able to roll up with their chopshop up-armored APCs and Toyotas. Also notice that they are using OG-7V rockets (40mm fragmentation) in their attacks. Im surprised because most of the time you see them shooting HEAT at anything and everything possible.

The lnshallah School of Marksmanship - "If God wills it..." VERY familiar with it!
The "problem" with the Iraqis and the Afghans from a statist, big green perspective is that they will fight in self defense but, their loyalties are to their family/clan/tribe/coreligionists and NOT to the more nebulous concept of "the State".
We can train them and equip them but, they cannot be relied upon to accomplish tasks that are not understandable through the filter of their worldview - self/family/clan/tribe/coreligionists.
Notice no coordination of fires or attempt at suppressive fire. No effective leadership.
The Daesh unit applied good tactics and suppressive fire to win the day. They are disciplined and motivated. They have effective leadership.
Small unit clashes like this are the norm in this fight.
Many lessons for us here.

Fighting in built up areas is nasty and unpredictable.
Even if you're doing it "right", you can still get zapped!

ISIS VBIED destroyed by RPG.

Interesting perspective provided by the 360 camera!
Note that there is no uniformity in weapons, equipment, uniforms or vehicles - things don't need to be matchy matchy to be effective!
