Definitely need to dry run things. Did a small patrol today with what would be my patrol pack, first time since getting my rifle (shame on me), so first time incorporating additional ammo. Lesson learned, my patrol pack is way too damn small because it's basically an oversized camlebak pack, and the shoulder straps dig in with that much weight, definitely need to upgrade to a better bag when funds allow.

Thanks Hawkeye for addressing this, I just see it almost never addressed as people are always worried about cold weather base layers and never seem to address warm weather. One suggestion for underwear is the Starter brand from Walmart, they've got synthetic long legged boxer briefs, they are about $9 though. But I've had good look with them in our heat here.

Im using the "Starter" brand undershirts for WalMart to wear under my vest at work. I like them better then the underarmor ones which are $30! And the Starter shirts are like $9.... Over the last 3 or 4 years the Starter brand shirts are holding up much better.

underarmour has gone the way of the likes of North Face; Trading on it's name now. Used to be good gear for reasonable prices. Now the gear is still good but the prices are fucking stupid.

No doubt there. Their prices are pretty much out of my range and they seem to have dropped earth tone colors. I have a couple of Underarmor shirts that I bought years back when they were more reasonable. I like them but unfortunately I cant wear them as they are too small through the shoulders for me now.....

Addidas cool Max/stay cool briefs rock. Two pair is around 14$ iirc. I've never fell in love with UA stuff. Check Ross/tj Max for the discount stuff. I e gotten everything from 511 to UA all sub 10$ a shirt. Plus I like the mesh like tank tops for under my longsleve shirts.... And check target as well their C9 brand stuff can be good as well.

hiking types seem to rate ex-officio for long term wear boxers/underwear. (appalachian trail types that like to take 2 sets and wash one in a river every other day, so must be half decent...)

And for a while they were selling smart wool style knock offs. 6 years use and going strong. Other junk has fallen apart...

So a little update on the idiotic comments that get posted.... I just delete them instead of making them public as I don't want to give these fools a voice. But I'll share a few with everyone here, just so you know what kind of people are out there and how they think. The comments serve to reinforce my thoughts, that should the worst ever happen, there will be a LOT of people who die. Here is a sampling of the latest comments, some are paraphrased for brevity.... - I'm an idiot for using a canteen/water bottle.
- I'm an idiot for not using a suppressor on my rifle, for not having luminous sights, for not having night vision, and for not moving at night.
- I'm an idiot for not moving from point of cover to point of cover.
- I'm an idiot for having a water bladder in my pack and not having canteens mounted on my belt.
- I make too much noise when I walk.
