Well, I think I am going to officially give up on the Tapco G2 triggers. The G2 is proof that most people think that light = good trigger. For some reason people sing its praises in spite of the fact that it lacks any sort of tactile feel both before it "breaks" and when it resets.
I have purchased 3 AKs that came with them installed. All three exhibited carrier drag that was cured simply by getting rid of the G2. Even the G2 that I have that was polished and tuned by Mark Graham exhibits carrier drag.
It does have a good rep for reliability and I do like the little tube that holds the trigger group together even when it is out of the rifle but other than that, I think it must be one of the worst FCG that I have used for any weapon.
On the other hand, both Arsenal US made 2-stage FCGs that I have used have been great. I read online about people complaining that they are heavy, gritty, and exhibit trigger slap but my sample of 2 are very, very shootable with no slap. There is a very predictable break point that makes shooting easy and the break itself is reasonably light and crisp. It is a great trigger for a battle rifle.
The Arsenal 2-stage isn't as easy to install or find as the Tapco but it is easy enough on both counts. It isn't as light either but frankly, I have no problem with that since they are not at all hard to achieve great results with. I do wish that I didn't have to let the trigger all the way back out to reset it but other than that, I really like them.
Do you guys have any thoughts on the G2 or Arsenal 2-stage triggers? Are there any other triggers that I should look at?
