When I was running an AR, I always used a 2 point tactical sling of some kind, mainly VTAC or BFG Vickers, and always ran the gun slung. Since I switched over to the AK though, I have become a huge fan of running the gun unslung and doing transitions as Sonny P. teaches. I'll still sling the gun under some specific situations, but they are specific in nature. So, the sling for our AK's doesnt have to be complicated or have special features. Diz and I are running a simple sling that we came up with. Its not a "quick" adjust but it is "easy" to adjust in as far as the length is concerned. I just wanted to throw this out there and get an idea of whether or not its something that folks would be interested in. Its a 1.25" wide sling, and you can use multiple attachment methods.....HK clip, MASH clip, direct attachment to factory mounting hardware, or simple 550 cord. I'm running 550 cord myself but I'm looking to experiment with a few other things. Also looking at using 1.5" webbing as well. Price point on these would be approx. $30. And in case anyone hasnt seen it, here is the transition.

Question(s)... I too am finding myself running without the sling and just using it more for a "hanger" when performing another task. The two point makes it easy to transition to pistol, but not so much coming back to rifle. Also, if using the sling, let's say patrol style, and you need to shoulder the weapon, it is fairly easy. But if you then need to transfer to weak side to shoot it is more difficult. A single point has its own problems. Easier to transfer to weak side shooting but harder to transition to pistol. Also, if kneeling, the two point slung over the back gets the weapon out of your "workspace" if you happen to be tending to a wounded where as a single point it seems to hang right where you are working.
I guess what I'm asking, what do you use....single point, or two point or other? I have an adjustable two point now, but other than using it to hold the weapon, not usually using during a run, I'm wondering if a single point would serve me better. Would love to hear y'alls thoughts.

I'm running the 2 points pictured above. I'm not worried about ease of going back to the rifle after transitioning to my handgun. If I'm going to my handgun, its because the rifle isnt working....therefore, there's no reason to go back to it in a hurry. The only downside is as you mention, switching to your opposite side shoulder when running it patrol carry. With that, I just practice unslinging it to do the switch.
