Would the 5.45 AK rigs or the AR-15 rigs fit the 5.56 Circle 10 mags better? I am eyeing that new Swampfox rig.

They fit the 5.45 rig almost perfectly.

They fit the 5.45 rig almost perfectly. Thanks for the quick response. Out of curiosity, how well do they fit in the AR pouches? Would be cool to be able to have the 1 rig for more than 1 rifle.

They dont. They are almost identical to 5.45 mags size wise.

Just a quick comment; PMAGs with Ranger Floorplates fit pretty well in the 5.45 mag pouches. The PMAGs/Rangers are just a touch loose but I have not had one come out during my testing and training.

In conversation with Hawkeye earlier, I promised I'd post a picture of my AK that eats AR magazines. Seems like it could be a solution to all your issues, skipping the circle 10's. As an AK owner, with a specific affinity for the 5.56 platform, I'm pretty sure (sight unseen) that those circle 10's can be wiggled into that rig... I'm almost certain that Galil mags will fit. More on HOW to modify your 5.56 AK to eat Pmags to follow... Attachments:

There is a company over on arfcom that is coming out with an AR mag adapter for the AK that also incorporates a LRBHO. While it is tempting, I am not completely sold on it. The mags are one of the weak points of the AR, AK mags are significantly more robust imo.

There is a company over on arfcom that is coming out with an AR mag adapter for the AK that also incorporates a LRBHO. I'm fairly certain that is a company based in the Republic of Texas... If so, I'm well familiar with that product, it's development, and it's progress. If things work out, I'm going to be writing up one of the testing models on a rifle I'll put together for it. We're going to be offering these magazine adapters as well as the product you're mentioning... But that's foreshadowing. I'll be sharing that stuff here as well, of course. Which is the whole reason I am going to be testing and sharing the results... I wasn't initially sold on the idea of a Kalashnikov running a magazine it wasn't designed for... It's just counter-intuitive, right? In other words, I'll document my results. That was again, one of my biggest initial objections before I began making these adaptations to my 5.56 Kalashnikov... It likewise seemed counter-intuitive that the Russians would make a pattern rifle in 5.56 NATO, and even 7.62 NATO... Or would that be TOO much foreshadowing?

The mag adapter I was talking about is made by Definitive Arms out of Florida. I know they are sending a sample to MAC(from YouTube) for testing and review. The one I know out of Texas is the MSA adapter from Texas AK Designs. I am not really against it, just need some more convincing. The idea is great, it's just the robustness that concerns me. There isn't a lot of time behind them, once they prove themselves with high round counts and some abuse then I'll consider one(honestly, I'll probably buy one if they prove to be tough). As it is, I am greatly looking forward to seeing if these adapters from Definitive Arms are durable and reliable.

Agreed on the robustness question. However, I'm optimistic since AR mag reliability has increased in the past few years(thanks in no small part to Magpul). Though I do like the blugening capability of the std ak mag.
I would also like to see if the cost of adapter+rifle for BHO comes out less than a comparably equipped 5.56 vz-58

Pretty impressive. They also recently released a vid of a feed lip drop test for them. You bring up a good point about the VZ. I already own a SLR106, so for me it's just the price of the upgrade, but I have been considering selling or trading off my SGL21 for a 5.56 VZ to consolidate calibers. Though, who knows how long it will be until Czechpoint starts selling the 5.56 VZs.

Would be cool to be able to have the 1 rig for more than 1 rifle. 7,62 AK pouches accept all kinds of mags. Just put enough filler in their bottom & they can then accept 5,45 or 5,56 mags at the correct height. One rig to rule them all, sez I!
