A good buy came up on a Micro t1 so I jumped on it, now getting my barrel threaded for my MAK90 is now put on hold..
This will be going on my MAK90 and I dont know what mounting system to use.
Ultimak? Midwest industries optic mount rail? TWS dog leg with standard iron sight?
If I go with the Ultimak or TWS I was thinking of a QD mount?

If you want a railed handguard setup, then go with the Midwest Industry one and the dedicated T-1 upper.
A TWS with a low Larue mount would be a good option.
My current hands down favorite, is the RS Regulate side mount (providing you have a side rail mount on the weapon).

MAK90 = Ultimak with vents is what I would use.

You know, I didnt think about MAK's not having side rails.... yeah, an Ultimak will probably be the best route here.

I agree with Hawkeye in his recommendation of the MI/U.S. Palm unit. Mine cowitnesses with the iron sights and and is a rock solid mount.

I think Hawkeye said somewhere that Red Dot sights are the gateway to hanging doo dads on your rifle.
I love MI products but I went with HORSE on this one. I ordered the vented Ultimak with an American Defense low QD mount.
I just want something simple, so I just went with it to help me from hanging stuff all over it!
I originally had a PA micro dot but sold it because I couldnt trust it and said I would never run one unless it was a super reliable and tested one.
And plus WILLIE we couldnt have identical set ups!

I hope you can still cowtiness with the QD - with most you cannot.
The basic Aimpoint mount is best.

He could have been lying so who knows...if it does not then no big deal. thats what the QD is for!

I have heard good things about the Attero Arms mounts - no need for rails on the side or the HG, and they have versions that should let you cowitness with a 3 dot pistol sight setup in case your red dot goes down: atteroarms.com/products.html

I don't mind the lack of side rails on the Ultimak since I can mount my RDS and light in an offset mount (I use the IWC/HSP Thorntail) directly on the rail. I mount my sling on the factory sling mounting point.
However, I think Chinese AKs have the sling mounting point further forward which I do not care for so I would take a hard look at the US Palm/MI rails for a MAK. They also tend to handle heat better than the Ultimak though it has been a non-issue for me to this point.
