I've seen discussion about thermal cycling killing red dot optics when using AK gas tube mounts...
Anyone using one of these mounts with a few dozen thousand rounds downrange have any issues?

Posted this on another forum... a guy I trust says he has 14k through a 5.45 AK with this setup, no problems. The optic is now on a 7.62 AK and going strong.
Once again, Internet BS gets trumped by real world experience!

I suspect that the particular optic that is mounted on the gas tube may be a variable in this. Aimpoints have proven to hold up to Ultimaks very well.

From my experience - very few people in the US fire their weapons enough to burn a quality red dot. Quality dots being Aimpoints, the newer Primary Arms, Bushnell, SPARC etc.
They have been known to burn out Eotechs though - that IS verifiable.
