1) Post Apocalyptic Santa. Love it. 2) People always start at the bag. No one ever starts at the mission, and goes through what the need for it, and then finds a bag to fit. 3) I am guilty of the above. 4) I can acheive multiday hikes with comfort and food with a 40L rucksack/daysack/bergan/bug out bag/get home bag/bag. Any space on top of that is (extra) food room. Naturlich, this is current for my current location, environment, and circumstances. You put me in snow and I want at least 65 litres just so I can carry a proper sleeping bag.
YMMV, but it all depends on money and bulk; the more money you have, the less you have to pack bulk-wise/weight wise in a lot of cases. I just got hit with an REI dividend and got a half-length neo-air self inflating sleeping bad. It takes up about the same room as a beer can. My £5 OTHER rollmat is about 6" by 18" and approximately as good, even though it's full length it's also thinner, when layed out.
As with everything, it's mostly about what's inside.

Also;
You'd like tea too, if some idiot hadn't of THROWN IT IN THE SEA.
A quality protest would have been to take it and drink it, but not pay.
Tipping it into the sea? Odd.

Great content. Curious to see what you pack for your long range BOB.

You touched on a ton of shit I've been preaching for years. I giggle when a see a BOB the size of that usgi assault Ruck with tons of stuff lashed to it. Though I've been looking for one to replace my old BHI 3day .
Thing I've told guys over and over. Pack what you "think " you need for 3 days then go hit a trail. You may bust out 4mph on the sidewalk but once on trail it'll get cut...add in someone slower (wife...kid..injured) expect more of a cut. If its 40 miles home...pack for 4-6 days. 10 miles a day trying to avoid apoc crap and two extra for ohhh wtf moments. Avg speed for those hikes you know I hosted never excededed 3 MPH...!!! 2-2.5 was the norm. Pack size for me 3-5 days is 4500+ CI. Day patrols is my mule..1 night the Bhi...longer trusty crusty Alice...or my kelty falcon 4400. About size of that TT Ruck you showed but with full adjustable internal suspension.
Good video..

I appreciate the let sit back and analyze approach rather than the let's jump on the bob bandwagon. I like what a couple other YouTube channels have called small bags. A edc bag. That's something I can see as practical and get behind. Bugging out always seemed odd, because some serious stuff has to go down before you leave your most valuable prepping item. Get home makes more sense but I don't think you can accomodate all contingencies in a single bag or one you can carry.
Excellent thoughts and enjoyed it.

Great video.
My packs are Big ALICE, Medium ALICE, Molle II, TT Extended Range Operator Pack, TT Removable operator pack, and Gregory Baltoro 65 Pack (extremely comfortable to carry but not as durable or versatile as the military stuff).
Right now my BoB is a large ALICE pack with TT (Tactical Tailor) Malice frame and straps. My current GHB is a medium ALICE with Hellcat mod (Molle II frame with Malice straps). I use the med ALICE as it is a little bigger and I have to use it as a three day bag for work too. I also picked up some various size sustainment pouches for the ALICE packs that I can add on in a pinch. The Big ALICE and the MOLLE II pack are both good BoB packs along with extended GHB pack (say you had to travel several hundred miles due to work or vacation).
I have the TT Extended Range Operator Pack and I am still testing it out. I have found it's usefulness is dependent on the size of your gear. For my big ALICE and Molle II, I have part of the military sleep system (depending on the weather) or my Wiggy's sleeping bag, along with a small low footprint tent, both of which take up space. In the Extended Range Operator Pack, I use my Blackbird hammock and Superfly, along with Enlightened Equipment over quilt and under quilt, all which packs up much smaller and lighter than the sleeping bag or tent in my other packs. With the TT Extended Range Operator Pack, I can add the TT Removable Operator Pack (clips on) and a sustainment pouch or two from my Molle II. I have found I can carry almost as much the TT Extended Range Operator Pack with the Assault Pack and a sustainment pouch or two as the big ALICE and Molle II.
I have taken all my packs for extended two to five day backpacking trips and for me the Big ALICE and Molle II feels bulky all loaded up while the TT Extended Range Operator Pack carries more like my Gregory Baltoro 65 Pack. I definitely feel more "agile" with the TT Extended Range Operator Pack and Gregory.

Does anyone know how well the MOLLE II ruck and Medium MOLLE II pack work with a battle belt?
Thanks

Not sure on the medium but on the large molle 2 if you drop the shoulder harness assembly down a notch or two it can work quite well with a belt rig.

agree with Hawk on this. I have used this system, Molle 2 ruck with BB, and if the pouches you place on the rear of the BB are placed correctly and the ruck adjusted correctly, the ouches act as a shelf for the ruck to rest on.

I have a Sabre 75 that is pretty damned good (Karrimor brand) that upgradeable with the PLCE side pouches to 90L. It's good for 4-5 days of realistic supplies.
One key thing to pay attention to; We never supplied ourselves with more than around 5 days of supplies, and realistically that was 5 days of food and 2 days of water and ammo (expected use). I think all you can realistically do is aim to be able to move for 5 days at a time, and from there it's a cache/plunder situation. Allowing for being slower than you think, tactical considerations and soak time on a location? Furthest you can realistically travel is probably 3 days, knowing you have no get out of jail free in the form of CAS, QRF etc.

Panzer .ive always said to add double to what you "think"your eta will be. Example. Its three days walk. Add 1.5-2 days to that number. Also a big reason why ive preached to guys walk on the road...now walk down a trail....now walk that same trail but expecting -insert bad guy of choice- to attack you. Now look how that effected your pace....i think (least imho) that 10 miles a day is /should be the minimum goal per day (terrain/threat ) dependant.
