Good review /movie. Cool lil shelter..ill have to look up the specs. I've always ran the netting stand alone with a ground sheet made to spec. But this would be something (weight /cost) that the wife unit would appreciate by being more "tent " like. I carry similar tarps like that aor2 one in my fighting kit (day packs) etc so I've always got shelter... Cool lil bug shelter ....off to shop lmao.

Hawkeye: What's the score with the groundsheet PU coating? I like the idea of the bug netting, but my main issue here is the groundsheet.

Also. I can't help but tease; Basha like 'Bash'. Like Mash (potato!) But yes. UK Basha = 2 man system & gear. And it IS big enough for two REAL humans AND your bags (or 3 humans with no gear... run your gear up the middle is the favourite).

Yes, I know the "proper" pronunciation, but... Its a southern thing. Not sure I understand the question on the ground sheet. Its a tent floor saver. Serves 2 purposes. First, it helps protect the bottom of your tent from having sticks, rocks, etc poke through and second it acts as a moisture barrier to prevent water from soaking through your tent floor.

Pu rates are how water resistant/thick the polyuerthane coating is. Like that woodland /tan 1.9oz we see for sale the poly coating is rated for X and then tbe hydrostatic rating iirc. Panzer more than likely its over kill for use with a set up like shown or with tent on normal ground but its main positive would be water resitance if the bug tent wasnt used or on shale /sharp rocks and also act as a thermal barrier. I personally run a 5+8 1.5 oz treated ripstop as my ground sheet. But its there more as a dirt /mud barrier for when i tarp camp. Not as water resistant as a poly backed one or as strong. Hawk would be suited to use some mil webbing for tie outs to stake it down or to hang as an improvised hammock or litter just a lil idea for ya hawk cuz i like dual use items

The floor saver I'm using as a ground sheet is not coated. Its polyethylene. No coating to wear off and very strong/puncture resistant. Where I am if you put something down on the ground and lay on it you WILL be wet by morning from ground moisture being drawn up, even with a "waterproof" tent floor.

Hawkeye,
Do you have a US source for the basha? As an alternative, what do you think of the newer USGI tarp/shelters?
Thanks.

Only places I have found real Basha's is ebay and the vendors are all overseas. Primarily UK vendors. The only thing similar in the US inventory is the tarp that the USMC has. I don have any first hand experience with those though.
