When I heard this earlier, I thought you know, if they'd said it was China, it wouldn't have surprised me. If they'd have said it was Russia, it wouldn't have surprised me. But ISIS?? Yeah, ISIS being able to hack CENTCOM's social media (Twitter and You-tube) just doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy. Them actually hacking CENTCOM itself and getting secret documents and remote control of PC's, yeah, that's just freakin scary.

yeah. the hacker group Anonymous is claiming they have tracked the hacker to somewhere in Maryland. Not sure if that's true but wouldn't surprise me if it is.

If you look at how they're organised and how the recruit (lots of internet used for C3 and propaganda) I'm surprised it's taken this long for this to happen, given how effective it is and how you can't really defend against it so long as things are connected to the internet. Taking over a twitter account? No big deal at all. Accessing internet connected resources? That worries me. There was a British kid (Autistic, computer whizz) who got into NASA and got access to systems at Houston. (Because of poor passwording on the part of NASA) He then secured all the passwords and emailed NASA. Pretty sure he's locked up in the US now for terrorism, which is bollocks. Point being, if a kid can do something like that, so can an older, well trained individual (or small team).

True...
I've also heard some ideas that they may be getting some inside help. I used to not put much credit in that, but now....I'm not so sure its not accurate.
