But I want the one that looks coolest, not the most effective! (Sarcasm?)
On a serious note - That was actually quite interesting. They are clearly different, but I noticed that at different points in the video one outdid the other. At times (and again, I am accepting of the whole camera effect and lighting stuff) I would say the Tropic was REALLY REALLY dark and horrible obvious.... But then at the same time, the standard gear was too light. Purely from this video, I would say that the best tactic would perhaps be to combine the two patterns - darker colours lower down, graduating to a lighter colour upstairs. This is subject to actually seeing it without all the interference and colour manipulation that was discussed in the other thread, and the bias it provides!

Regular MC held its own very well overall. There were times when the Tropic was better, and when it was, it was way better, (in shadows and darker/greener areas) but the regular MC did well!

Thanks for all your hard work testing these patterns. Does this mean that OSW is no longer retro chic?

Yeah I'm slightly disappointed here with MC Tropic. The "regular" multicam, or OCP out-performed it, IMHO. Maybe as Hawkeye has said, for really deep, triple-canopy jungles it would work extremely well. But for single-canopy forests like we have, the std MC works really well. So again, terrain and sit. The take-away on this is that I'm now planning on stocking up with std MC items, that are readily available (but maybe not for long). Also started prototyping some new stuff in MC for testing in the coming months.
OSW? As the surplus dries up here as well, it now becomes on par, roughly with the OCP, in my mind. Again not in terms of overall effectiveness, but in availability, cost, and sustainability.
