I am joking, I ran a 3pt as my first sling then a 1pt then an adjustable 2pt and now a simple 1" wide 2pt. What are/were your reasons for the single and 2pt?

CONS: 3pt = too much strappage to hang on stuff. Needs a quick release to switch sides quickly
1pt = bangs on your nuts when moving after a transition. Prone to planting muzzles in the dirt when bending down and hitting wounded on head when moving them.
2pt adj VTAC = bulkier than needed and ability to adjust is over rated IMO. If the sling is not the same width throughout it tends to always be turned over and twisting, buckles needs to be right side up to work best.
Current sling is adjusted to my workspace and hangs well when dropped. If it rolls it seems to correct itself. I view carbine slings as a retainer not a shooting aide as time doesn't usually allow for that. I also use 550 cord for attachments, strong and universal and provides non-interference at shoulder/hand placements.
That's my take for a "general purpose" sling.

KISS definitely has it's uses. I'd have to try a 2pt to see how it worked for me (especially assuming such a short rifle overall..) and 1pt's are just a 'no', for me.
'switch sides', I must admit, was never a thing with the SA80, what with it being R/H only, so that's not even something I had considered for OTHER Bullpup rifles.

Most of today's slings are made for patrolling anyway.

the "patrol" sling pictured above is my prefered method of slinging. I does get in the way of a side arm a bit, which is why you see guys run a holster on their plate carriers sometimes "han solo" style.
a drop leg can get uncomfortable (regardless of height) after a while, but it does free up space on gear, and allows you to retain your pistol after taking off your body armor.
