Good video, very poignant;
'Standing' patrols, is what we'd call this. Just getting out on the ground to make sure you know what's happening, without being a full on Recce. Leading to Recce and/or Find/Fix/Destroy (Advance to contact style). SO MUCH of what even the regular military does is Standing, rather than recce/A2C.

Ive given up on a team.
Ive wasted too much time, money and energy the last 6 month. People tell you one things and do the compete opposite. There is a over abundance of interest out there but a serious drought in dedication..
The only thing I would add is the value of scouting your area NOW and in all weathers and season...and go as far and wide and as often as possible..Not only is it good PT but you gain priceless info that will save you all sorts of things to be saved later..
But your video is spot on. Well done.

Yeah, finding the right people is tough Bergmann ....ask me how I know. Your specific AO doesn't help that matter any I'd imagine....
Panzer, exactly.

I started Practical Rifle locally with the hopes of finding people. So far no joy.
I'm on my own with the exception of maybe grandkids if it gets to the point of circling the wagons in SHTF and we all end up in the same location.
Simple KISS SOPs will be the order of the day and is what I'm working on at weekly practice because it has to work with a "thrown together" group of 2-6 people with maybe a few dry runs if lucky.
SHTF does not happen overnight in most instances. Being able to provide food means knowing how to garden and protect such. If things get to that point, you are going to need a "village" to survive and they will form out of necessity but it won't be pretty with the natural power struggles that will ensue.
My primary concern is protecting the homestead in that fragile partial-WROL when things are still semi-normal but crime is skyrocketing. If we "go black" from a grid-down scenario, it's anarchy time and all bets are off.
Living off the land is no simple task and I dare say that 90% of those who are not doing it now will not make it when they try post SHTF. Not saying you guys are not all set (have no idea what your situation is for a "retreat"), but most guys I've seen think they will just be hunting dear to survive and everything will okie-dokie.
I use to think I was over prepared in firearms and my focus on training, not so much anymore, considering how many will have nothing, not even a buffer for food and the propensity for Americans to turn to violence to get what they want. God help us if the grid ever goes down for even a few months!

Finding the right people IS the hardest part of the whole preparedness thing. Hopefully, getting out and training leads to to meeting like minded folks.

I have some buddies that are like if it happens we will band together, but in the mean time we don't want to do anything.
I know TWO people who are training and preparing for something.... A good friend and my Grand pa....

Not to be the negative sounding guy, but, its going to be darn near impossible to effectively get together with folks after things go south. It really and truly has to be done now, ahead of time. Logistically, functionally, tactically, etc.... OJT just isn't going to work on the fly after the fact, unfortunately.

@kenny I'd be teaming up with your grandpa and that friend and do some training with them. As Hawkeye says, after the balloon goes up is not the time for OJT.

I do a little with my buddy, he lives about 45 min away so scheduling is ruff.
My grandpa is more moral support and does not want to be out in "the field"
He has the property, garden, freeze dried food, water (pump) and ponds....its a very nice set-up.
He said he brings all that to the table, so I bring the guns....lol
I am going to get my brother and some of friends together to work on some patrols..they have agreed and want to make it a "camping trip" but hey as long as I can get them out there.

It's a start. A good start. Your grandpa may not be able to patrol, but make sure he can hold down the fort while others are doing things. There will be lots to do when TSHTF. You'll need patrols and guards when people are working the garden, gathering firewood, making repairs, etc. He can be a huge help with some of these things as well. Start small with the friends, feel them out and proceed as you can.
