Speaking of lights, I've found what Hawkeye is preaching is exactly right. We've recently started getting some of our boys familiar with patrolling in a non-urban environment. Several went on their first patrol with lights mounted, the intention being they would not illuminate the light. In practice however, there were at least three occasions where lights were bumped and illuminated on accident. From now on, all lights are removed before patrol and having a pouch/pocket to store the light is a great idea. Having a QD light is a must, and most of our guys now run the Inforce WML.

I've heard bad things about the Inforce eating batteries when not even in use. I have heard that there is one without this problem. Ideally I would like one that is momentary on/off ONLY and IR/white selectable.

I've thought about this subject about as deep as I can. So....
I expect most of my WROL activities to be security in nature. Inside a perimeter a flashlight on your rifle is a must have.
Outside the perimeter, they will be handy to asses an engagement directly afterwards if it wasn't a break contact. Let's say you just confronted trespassers. You would ambush them with light. You aren't just gonna hose down 4 people walking through your AO because they are armed.
My assessment is that , while I won't need it as much on patrol, that a light on the gun may be needed more often than not. 6oz is not gonna make and break me.

Ideally I would like one that is momentary on/off ONLY and IR/white selectable. Yeah, I've only recently noticed my Inforce eats batteries when off. I use rechargeable batteries and the CR123s I have are not low self discharge type. I was just thinking that the dead batteries were from the batteries and not the light. So, I tried a Duracell and it went dead in my safe in two weeks. That sucks! The company says that you need to unscrew the head a quarter turn when not using to prevent discharge when the unit is off. Heck with that! If I need my rifle when the front door is crashing down and the dog is barking, then I don't want to have to remember to tighten the head of my light to bring it into play. I've read that Inforce will fix, but you have to send it back. I'll be contacting them in this regard as when I need it, it needs to work without me having to tighten the head on it. My gosh, it's a weapon light...not something I'm using at the range!! FYI, mine is the 175 lumen, IR/white constant or momentary model.

I had the HSP model and the same thing happened. Just eats up juice sitting there.

@patriotic Sheepdog; Can the Inforce be hooked up with a wire/pressel?

My Inforces do not eat their batteries but they are the most basic version.
White light only, momentary push activation only.

I have both the momentary and constant models. Neither have had a battery change in over a year, and both are still running bright when activated. Maybe this is an intermittent issue or only specific to certain models?

If it's something that's an issue they're willing to fix if you send back, perhaps it was an issue on the first batch (or first few batches) and it's not a problem now? Don't know how long others have had their kit, so maybe not?
