I agree with this general line of thinking.
I live in a suburban/urban area but have woods in mind for many bug out situations.
My compromise is putting the lighest smallest most streamlined light I can find as I dont make my living kicking down doors the light is a compromise/afterhtought for me. The one i use has only a single 123 battery puts out "only" 120 lumens and on the rifle.
It is as slim as possible so lessened chance to snag anything and I belive is as light and out -of-the-way as a light could possibly be.

I forgot to mention in this video when it was made, but it changed the way I setup my "do it all" gun which was to not have a light on but use another TLR-1 when I needed it. Gives me an off gun light and a spare for my handgun. Redundancy is good, thanks for the insight hawkeye!

I really like my Inforce WML. Easy on/off, runs on CR123, and I have the IR version, so it plays well at night.

If the Inforce was momentary with a quick double for toggle mode, I'd be all over those, but my understanding is that you have to click them on and off correct?

I have the most basic version and its strobe by push only. Light will be on for the duration of your thumb on the switch Other are on/off , IR etc etc

Thanks! I downloaded the pistol version also and I think they blew it with operation mode. It's backwards IMO. If I hit the paddle by accident I get a latched on light verses a momentary light AD. Primary mode should always be momentary IMO, these lights have to be held for .5sec before they become momentary.

Good video.
Since I live in a mostly rural area, my rifle setup is nearly identical, except I use MOE fore grips, as the only thing I'll put on them is the light as needed. Rifle has BUIS, AimPoint, and a sling. I keep a short MOE rail on the fore grip, and have a SureFire in a LaRue QD mount to put the light on quickly.
The other advantage to this versus a dedicated weapon light is the light can be used like a normal flashlight and not have to point the weapon at everything.

I have a IR laser designator on mine. I can put a white light on, an IR light on or leave lights off. I might eventurally switch to a WML with the IR option.
currahee, what IR designator do you use, and do you like it?
Wolverine Technology LaserI got it in a trade, so I have never dealt with the company, but it was a couple of years old and still ticking. It was exactly what I was looking for, a true rifle laser designator at well under DBAL/PEQ prices. Beats hell out of the Uni IR I was running before.
