Yeah this is also something I struggle with on a daily basis. I like to buy local, if at all possible. Sometimes it is, sometimes not. Kinda hard to do across the board. Local produce, all time, as much as possible. Sewn goods? Most made overseas. Even Berry-compliant gear is barely USA-made, usually down in Puerto Rico. What about our gear? You can buy overseas-made copies of Gucci gear for less than half the price. Some is junk, some is actually getting better. So where does that leave us? Between a rock and hard place. Our standard of living is such that a chest rig made here, especially in a home workshop, is a lot more than what the Chinese can mass-produce for. That's just the reality of the situation. I think what we're doing is still unique enough to make us worth getting, but opinions vary.
In the end, our standard of living is being shredded right now, by those folks who would like to see us leveled to the rest of the world. If things do not change, then this will eventually happen and the difference between standards of living will be much less, making buying local pretty much a necessity, rather than a choice. And prices will change accordingly.

ACU's last only a few months at best with regular wear. I was having to replace mine about every 6 to 8 months on active duty. And thats with rotating through 4 pairs a week. Then take into consideration that they cost about $90 a pair, no thank you. I miss the old woodland BDUs.

Hopefully you guys are okay with me sharing this here. My good buddy does alot of camo effectiveness videos, here's OSW (Old School Woodland). The leaves are just starting to change here in Texas from summer to fall. This video outlines how the "common man" can use inexpensive woodland surplus to great effect in a wooded environment.

I prefer 50/50, 65/35 is a bit more comfortable but I have blown out seems on truspec's classic pant as well as the crotch area with proppers...it took 2-3 years to do this though...
