I recently picked up a pair of Tru-Spec TRU Pro-G bdu's in Coyote. I got mine from Desert Deuce but they are also available at OPSGear as well. The material is a 65/35 Poly/Cotton ripstop. So far, my first impressions are very favorable. I'll get some more pics up of them outdoors soon. Also, I havent forgotten about doing some night vision shots with the others both with, and without, IR illumination, just havent had a chance to get to it. I'll be including these when I do.

My buddy and I are steadily looking for ways of how can we better test our camo's, theories, etc.... without others actually being together and using their naked eyes. Pictures are fine, but, I don't think they really offer the true full scope. They are motionless. Our eyes, are not. If we were actively looking for someone, our eyes, head, and bodies will be moving. They'll be moving laterally, vertically, horizontally, and focusing in and out. Lighting and angles will change as we and our eyes move, etc. So the thought occurred to me...... video. Now, video wont give the same effect that our naked eye will have via depth perception and focus, but, we can simulate the other movements. So with that in mind, I did a little test this morning. I took a digital woodland top, and laid it in the bushes here at work. It was about 9:36 am. when I took this video, and the sun is coming from the east, my right. I am going to leave the top where it is, and take some more pics and video throughout today as the sun changes its angle. Here are the initial results. As you will see, with very little vegetation in front of the top, but just a bit of early morning shadow, it almost disappears. From my desk, approx. 100 yrds away, I cannot see it at all. As you walk up to it, you have to really look hard to find it. I plan to do the same thing with multicam, and the coyote.

Ok, very interesting deveploment today... I've never been a big fan of Tru-Spec products. I've had some in the past, and had issues with them, not to mention I've never been overly impressed with the construction quality. I took a chance though and ordered some Tru-Spec items, and got them in today. Cant remember if I mentioned this before or not, so forgive me if I am being repetetive. I really like the ACU cut tops, especially the Propper digital woodland ones. I like the cut and fit, and especially the pleated/bellowed shoulders. It gives a very comfortable range of motion. What I havent liked, is the velcro everywhere. I like velcro, for certain uses mind you. I prefer buttons for just about everything. I dont mind it being used on the chest pockets though, as those are often going to be covered up with gear. Shoulder pockets, and trouser leg pockets, hip pockets, etc.... I STRONGLY prefer buttons. Thats probably one of my biggest complaints with the ACU style uniform. Enter Tru-Spec. Tru-Spec has a new(er) line out that is called their "Pro-G" line. From reading the description, I was very intrigued. I broke down and ordered a set of their Pro-G line Digital Woodland BDU's. Got them in tday, and have to say, my initial impressions are very good. What drew me to them initially, was that they were traditional BDU style pants, with a blouse that was very close in picture and discription, to actual USMC issue MARPAT clothing. One thing I have liked about the USMC's uniforms, was the use of....BUTTONS. The Tru-Spec's follow that very closely. The pants are a traditional BDU style pant, with buttons on the hip and leg pockets. The blouse, is very close to an actual USMC issue blouse. The shoulder pockets and collar are very similar in design, and use....BUTTONS. The chest pockets are the only thing that uses velcro. The sleeve cuff's even use buttons, in a reverse fashion like USMC issue utilities. The material is a 65/35 Poly/Cotton twill material. I prefer a ripstop usually, but, after handling these, I'll admit, it appears to be a good material. The fit and construction of the BDU's is far, FAR superior to previous Tru-Spec items I have owned. These actually appear (on initial inspection) to be VERY well made. The digital woodland pattern they use, looks very good. Its a bit different than the digital woodland that Propper uses. Not quite sure how to quantify it, other than to say, they are just different.....but different in a good way. They actually look very close to actual MARPAT. I'm going to get some wear time on these, as we'll see how they start to shake out, but initially, I am very impressed. About the only thing these dont have, that would make them darn near the perfect BDU by my standards (out of whats currently available), is the pleated/bellowed shoulder area of the ACU, and in a ripstop material. I can live without those however. As long as the material and construction hold up.... these will be good to go in my book, and maybe even my new #1 choice. Here are a few pics.... MARPAT boonie and Tru-Spec boonie..... Rushed shot of the new Tru-Spec digital woodland top through a PVS-14 with the IR illuminator on. Going to try to get some (better) shots of them all, just have to find the time to do it.

Someone on another board had asked about how different gear looked with the different patterns/colors, so I threw a few together. The gear used is in the following order in each series. Custom made solution dyed Coyote rig, Tactical Tailor Digital Woodland MAV rig, and my custom made Multicam rig. Tru-Spec Pro-G Digital Woodland

Just to compare the Tru-Spec and Propper Digital Woodlands a little easier..... Tru-Spec...........................................................................................................................................Propper Someone on another forum had also asked how the Coyote compared color wise next to Khaki..... Coyote Tru-Spec pants next to some Propper Khaki pants.
