Just something I wanted to pass on, and put out there for folks to be thinking about. We always want to think of other folks on firearm related websites, to be decent folks. Many probably are, but the sad fact is, man also arent.
Regardless of what your level of preparedness is, or what you feel that level should be....regardless of what your thoughts are as to a worst case scenerio, we all need to be aware of something. In the past 2 weeks, I have seen multiple people on multiple different gun boards, openly and specifically post, that their primary goal regarding any level of bad/shtf situation, is to have enough guns, ammo, and friends, to take by force, all the food and supplies they need and want from all those who have "wasted" their own time and money preparing and having food and supplies stored. I have seen this in the past, but I have noticed it to be an increasing trend, and with alarming numbers.
We think about the folks we are preparing to defend and protect our food and supplies from, as your typical thugs and looters taking avantage of a bad situation, folks who are already criminals now. However, they appear to be only half the concern. The other is now being revealed to be folks who right now, seem to be average ordinary people.....neighbors, others we casually chat with at the range as felow shooters, etc... I'm not sure what concerns me more....the fact that these folks are thinking and planning like this....or the fact that they are increasingly talking about it, completely openly, and not oncerned in the least with doing so. It also bothers me that they are not being verbally thrashed to pieces.... In fact, very few actualy speak out against them. That in and of itself is a concern, and leads me to wonder if many more arent actually thinking the same thing, and just arent openly saying it yet.
My reasons for pointing all this out are multiple... First, regardless of your level of preparations, I would be very cautious about going into too much detail, with ANYONE, internet or in person, about it. Secondly, start thinking about this now. Start thinking about the concept that one day, neighbor Bob across the street, may be someone you see at the end of your sights.....Could you pull that trigger as easily and unhesitantly, as you could on some unknown dirtbag?
It really blows my mind, and my faith in society in general (not that it was overly high to start with), to know that there are people out there who acknowledge the potential for bad times and have the capability to prepare, but instead of using their time and money to take measures to prepare and put back some things, they openly and actively plan to take those things BY FORCE, from others who have. Just something I wanted to pass on that I felt some of you may not have either noticed or thought about....
