Get a load of this guys!
This makes me want to buy a 5.56 NATO cambered AK, as my next eventual AK purchase. Is this the chocolate and peanut butter combination of rifles, the 5.56 AK that can be fed M-16/AR-15 mags?

Would be great if you already have a stockpile of AR mags, if not then I'd just stick with AK mags, they are more robust anyway.

I'll check out the vid later but is this an add-on or a complete rifle?

Either. They sell complete Saigas with it installed or you can send it in and have it installed on one you already own.

I think its definitely cool, if you've got bunch of AR stuff and want to check-out the AK platform, or if you're like me, and don't have much anything and could go in either direction.

I got to play with a couple of these last week.
Very well engineered and designed. They shot flawlessly, reloaded quickly and overall made me just think "why didn't anyone think of this before?"
The only crappy thing is that now I want one.

chocolate milk flavored 5.56 AK +++> Galil or the South African R1. Good rifles, but not worth the lust. teethed on these. Favor is a much better replacement. R1 had there issues. While sand tolerance was good trigger mechanism was prone to clogging in wet and mud.
GI A2 20" better. Steyr AUG 20" better still.

This is ingenious, but is it a "fix" to a non-problem? If you want a 5.56 and use 5.56 mags, get an AR. If you want a AK, then get the mags for that. I guess, if you have a bunch of AR mags and for some reason you want to change systems, then this would work. However, if you have a bunch of AR mags then I would guess you have some time and experience behind the AR platform.
I just don't see the reason. Please explain it to me.

If you're 'the AK guy' in an AR group. If you want to practice on the OTHER rifle you will come across without buying ancils and ammo that are specific tp that second platform. Lower recoil for smaller people to train (say, kids?) or any combination of the above. Similar to .22 AR conversions, really. For my part, I am bullpup. I I reckon I would learn the AK faster than the AR because of some similarities that are not apparent on the AR. Would prefer to stay 5.56 till I am happy that my skill with an AK in handling and manipulations is good enough to trust my life to it, before commiting to different ammo, support gear etc.

It's not like you can "undo" the change. If I am thinking I would do a pickup of a buddy's rifle, shouldn't I be training on that platform? If I'm carrying my MBR (AK) in a SHTF world, patrolling with my buddy's and my rifle goes tits up, I might be able to pick up a BGs AK or AR. If I just want to be able to exchange mags cause the buddy's have the AR platform and I have a 5.56 AK, well I can see the use I guess. Maybe I am just dense. I've been called many things before....lol. Just trying to understand the need.

I've very much moved-on from this conversion, since my initial post. Largely because, these take a very long time to have done by DA, and the cost isn't ultimately justifiable. The only real reason I would have a 5.56 AK, is so I wouldn't have to diversify the calibers I have to purchase (or load), a just wanted to maintain proficiency with the AK battery of arms. Its very much in the "range toy" category for me, now. I kind feel like I went through a maturing process, in a way, when it comes to this setup.
