While not a traditional "Fighting" caliber I think it still can play a role in certain cases...
Remember the scene in The Patriot where Mel Gibson's character instructs his younger sons on ambushing the British column in the forest. Imagine a group of boys with suppressed .22's dug into a treeline. They could create quite a bit of havoc and confusion from a couple hundred yards out.

Even though, I love the venerable Ruger 10/22, The Smith & Wesson MP22 has pretty much the same manual of arms as an AR, which is great training for younger ones, and it is far easier to field strip and reassemble than the Ruger. Well that's my two cents.

Well that's my two cents. I had an M&P 15-22 years ago and never should have sold it... Recently I wanted to pick up a dedicated .22 upper to use and was able to grab a Bear Creek Arsenal .22 upper and have been very pleased so far. Put it on any AR lower and you're good to go.

That's interesting and I could see some advantages. Would make moving the kids up easier.

My 6 year old niece has used my Savage model 64 to knock squirrels off the utility pole transformer from 75 yards away. Open sights. Taught her to shoot with a Crosman 760 BB gun, so the recoil is about the same.

" They could create quite a bit of havoc and confusion from a couple hundred yards out."
So being a med guy, in the PAW having a .22 tumble and yaw its way thru your gut, just below your armor, will not be a good thing....

Not to mention, a guy hit with a .22 as you described, may not die immediately, but he will require 1 to 2 others to help aid and tend to his would(s) taking those people out of the fight as well for a while until he dies anyways.
