During this past Christmas period, I had the opportunity to get a major surgery done right around the same time, so that took priority over many other prepping activities for me. My prior condition physically limited my ability to exert myself for extended periods of time, as it affected the function of my lungs and heart. I am recovering from the surgery now, and doing very well by my doctor's account. This situation has me thinking of how it physically limited me, and how I would not be able to reach the level of performance needed, should I find myself in one of the intense scenarios we regularly discuss here.
This has lead me to the thought that if there are others who are putting off having a medical condition addressed, or haven't been to just get a check-up for whatever BS reason, get it done. You're going to need to be an asset, instead of a liability, not just for yourself.

Agreed, get things taken care of ASAP. Even if nothing happens, wouldn't it be better to be able to do things with your kids without having to worry about your torn shoulder that needs surgery?

I even go to the extent of getting eye surgery and extra work done on my teeth in order to make myself more "SHTF deployable"..
I did recently have another set back due to yet another work out injury (I got cocky when I saw how good I shape I had gotten back into) that made me lose quite a bit of cardio and gain some fatness but am slowly bouncing back..
