I know there are a number of members of this forum, along with the owners/operators of UW Gear Inc., who are in the path of this monster.
Good luck to all who will be affected.

I hear it's downgraded to a tropical storm...
What does that shit actually mean?
I don't care about windspeeds, water volumes and science stuff for right now;
What does it mean for an actual human? Disruption, food storage, power outage, etc?

Tropic Storm is just a mid-grade thunderstorm that last for a day to three days.
Hurricanes give you more wind, rain and storm surge. After a upper Cat-2 it starts to get serious. Anything above a Cat-3 that gets a direct strike on landfall will be getting a complete makeover.

Disruption, food storage, power outage, etc? Wind speeds, water volume and the like plays into the what it means for the human. Still dropping trees on power lines, flooded roads preventing food trucks from reaching some areas. Luckily, Florida isn't inexperienced with hurricanes.

Still here. Lol . Power went out for only three days. Shocking due to my location. We anticipated 1-2 weeks.
No sewer. It's low here. Each house is on its own lift station. No power..no lift..no lift..shit soup. Power came on..pump worked..then went tits up. No indoor plumbing. I just built a outdoor shower. Kinda simple. Garden hose attach to the work shop sink..to a 7 setting wand head. Using picture frame chain attached to the corner of the house..AC compressor pallet as your stall floor. I already used it.
No damage..just..Lots of debris and flooding. My chainsaw saw got a great work out. My v wife was on the local news...opsec is a lost cause with her lol .

Glad to hear you came out OK Protus. Listening to radio yesterday some knuckle head near your AO was complaining the power was not on yet, whats taking them so long yadda yadda yadda... all I can think of was the two weeks we were without power in 04' and very little of this whining going on. Heck my niece in flagler was just allowed back in her apartment yesterday.
