Anybody have any input on the comparisons of the various TQs available out there? Ones I have heard about: -CAT -SOFT -TK4 -SWAT -RATS I have pretty much stuck with the CAT because it's what I was trained on and I acquired a bunch of them while in the Guard. I've put one on my arm for teaching classes and left it on there for about 20 minutes (do not try this at home ), so I know it works if done properly. My only problems with the CAT that I've personally witnessed is: -Price, at around $30 a pop it gets expensive to put a couple in every kit and supply family with them, I agree that lives are priceless but it's still a factor. -Necessary training, I've seen people completely screw it up too often, both in not making it tight enough to stop bloodflow and also not making it secure to where they dragged the casualty and their TQ is trailing behind them because it came off. I will personally train anyone I hand a CAT, but it's again still a factor. I'm considering maybe trying out the SWAT for my cargo pocket EDC kit, but I thought I'd ask for some opinions first and also try to start this discussion.

Being a retired combat medic and current instructor, I recommend the SOFT wide tq. I would stay away from the SWAT tq. The cat are not bad, just prefer soft wide. To me much easier and quicker to use. The buckle feature is what sold me. There is also a MAT tq that is good, just bulky. Stay safe.

I saw that buckle feature in the SOFT awhile back and my jaw dropped, would make high and tight on the leg that much easier!

TQs are like weapons....I like Glock, no I like Sig, etc. Get one you can use and use effectively. I'm a CAT guy, but not opposed to the Soft TQ. The SWAT-T and RAT TQs are not easy to apply to yourself on the upper extremity. They require too much movement on the injured arm. I carry SWAT-T and one RAT in my pack for backups to apply to my team if they get injured and I need another TQ.
