Its been 6 weeks since I done any Infantry type activity. So I am taking off an extra day this weekend.
On Friday I will train all day.
However it wont be Infantry type trianing ( tha basics of which I have trained a lot on last 3 years) and it will not be long range shooting (have done a lot of that also in last year) but for once I will focus on running that AR and shoot a high volume of rounds at short distances.
I am bringing 1800 rds steel (2 half cases of Wolf MilClassic 62gr and one half case of Wolf MilClassic 55gr and 10 mags pre loaded) and I hope that I will have much left over. Intend to do a whole lot of night shooting too to put some hours on that PVS and that DBAL
There will be multiple steel targets of different shapes and ranges and my AI will "updrill" me all day. Am bringing plenty of ibuprofen to minimize inflammation at the end of the day...
Just thought I'd thow it out there : )

I did nothing on Friday. But I've just got back in fron a 6 mile tab with approx 15kg, and happily it wasn't as horrible as I expected it might be! Mostly cross country, a little bit of paved here and there. More than happy with a time of 1hr30. The weight isn't up to standard, but going from 0-25kg in a oner at full pace is for people who WANT injuries. Training is for winners.

Well wasnt able to shoot quite as much as I had hoped.. Still nearly 1000 rds of mostly Wolf Military Classic 62 gr FMJ is not too shabby (I save my Wolf MC 62gr HP for my go-to loads as its an extra 1-1.5 cents/rd so in training I prefer the cheaper FMJ) (despite being an economy round had not a single malfunction and was able to engage the 100m target consistently and with very few misses,.. since its only 4 inches wide that tells me the rifle/ammo combo was running at least semi-decent MOA) Did a little prone and kneeling work but the majority of heats where from standing, since IMO that is the hardest position also failry common for reflexive fire and as such can do with extra polishing.

Interesting. At 100m I wouldn't expect to be able to hit anything that had just engaged me with a reflex shot. Quite honestly if they were pretty smart about it, I wouldn't expect to SEE the shot, only register the noise. (I'm assuming you did all your work at 100). If it were a scenario in which I was likely to see the gunshot at 100m, My personal opinion is a 1 round from standing because it's what I got taught, but I would be aiming to take any return shots that were quick from a kneeling position just because it's easy to drop into (certainly for me, though I do have to practise that to KEEP it easy) and presents half a target compared to standing me. In my AO I'm not a massive fan of prone because the grass has a bad habit of obscuring view AND it's oftentimes much easier to move from kneeling to kneeling. One of the drills on our combat shoot is 1 round from standing and 2 from kneeling, at 200m. I've always found, personally, that I miss the standing shot but 99% of the time I always manage both kneeling shots. I sometimes question the point of the standing shot, if I'm honest, because it's very nice on a clear range, but at those ranges in the real world, I'm expecting to have to fire from kneeling or prone to make a hit. I do not get enough professional range time to be able to make those kind of shots in the real world

the 100m shots were not standing .... apologies if I gave that impression. The 100m size target is due to its small size designed for prone.. All standing heats were 35-70m shots and the 70m targets were silhouettes...

No worries. That makes a lot more sense!
