The pattern matches the forest floor, minus the greenery, quite remarkably. When the sun hits it directly, it turns bright, from what I can see.
Is that because the fabric reflects the light or more a camera phenomena?

Camera as best I can tell. I still haven't quite gotten the hang of the settings on this new camera and sometimes it does goofy things like that.

Its a washout from the crystal in the camera being over loaded with glare. Happens to mine a lot.. Ive found that either sunset/dusk/sunrise mode tend to eliminate that but it varies from camera to camera and quality or course. Ambient light can also play hell on these settings. Again camera quality dependent....
