Super versatile, well thought out pack. I really like mine. Good review!

Love mine as well. I have it for 2 years and didn't know there was a hydro pouch in the back. I used it In combination with THE pack on a trip and worked great. Thanks

I wish the MOLLE rows on the sides were higher. Having tried to mount pouches there, which are 3 rows high, those pouches would hang down past the bottom of the pack. I would have to mount them on only 2 rows, to clear the bottom of the pack. I also wish the shoulder straps were mounted either lower on the front of the pack, rather than the very top, or had load lifting straps, because I think the pack hangs unnecessarily low, with the straps mounted at the top.

Top load lifters wont nessarily raise the pack higher. They are there to lessen the tension of the strap on the top of your shoulders. Placing the srraps lower would now raise where the pack sits but now its a gravity issue. Non full suspension packs suffer at this. My cbak is high strapped. Only way for me to adjust per say where the pack rides on my back is by tightening or loosening the shoulder straps.but since its a sub 25lb load its kind of a non issue.

I like small packs like the ROP high and snug, it makes it feel like its more of a part of me, even if it does raise my center of gravity. I feel as those I can move around with it better, despite that. Being taller, broad shouldered, but with an average sized chest, I have to really tighten the shoulder straps down to make the pack ride how I like it, taking up almost all of the length of the adjustment straps.

Serious question;
What is the fascination with clipping gear to plate carriers? I first saw this in (of all things) STARGATE the TV series as a child. I get that you can just unclip them and they fall off which is nice for a quick ditch.... but putting that thing back on has to be a bitch EVERY SINGLE TIME. Seems like more hassle than it's worth than to just use the straps...

I spent some time dry-firing my ROP variant on my plate carrier, and I found it to be too much of a hassle to try to reattach it on my own. When attaching a ROP, or any other pack which can direct-attach, to a ruck seems to be the best application for the system. What I've found to be the best way for carrying a pack over a PC is the Mystery Ranch Mystery Cinch. Using the Cinch allows the use of the pack's shoulder straps, which will carry the load better, but keep those shoulder straps from sliding off of the straps of the PC and digging into you.
If you're in a vehicle, you're not going to be wearing your pack. If you're having to squeeze through some tight space, you're not going to be wearing your pack. If you have to grab and go with your pack, and its configured for direct-attach, you have yourself a tactical handbag now. Using the shoulder straps with the Cinch, pretty much makes direct attach methods for carrying a pack obsolete.

Personally, I've never liked direct attaching a pack to any of my fighting gear, especially a plate carrier.

Same here..I hate the bounching in the small of your back feeling. I use a Mule. I wear it high enough I can reach over and grab the drag handle with little effort.

It attached via fastex to the shoulder pads and belt. Problem was...like posted getting it back on. It helped with load balance but that's it Should go dig it out and use it for other uses. Cool piece of kit back in the day.

Has anyone put single mag pouches on the MOLLE on the sides of the bag? Looking at the ROP for my EDC/patrol bag and was toying with that idea.
