Help a brother out here. Is it heresay or is it legitimate?
(so you know where I'm coming from: I simply want the best kit available, I don't particularly care about drama...)

Interesting, thanks for that Matt.
It sounds like they are trying to make things right...

This is the other Matt from ak47talk, the blog Matt from JTT linked.
I agree with a lot of what is said here about irons being simple and surprisingly effective, although the finer aiming point and all light conditions of a red dot is great. I am not a fan of the XS Big Dots, they make you slower past 50-75m. The biggest thing you can do to the AK sights in my opinion is widen the rear notch from .045" to around .080-.100" and round off the outside corners like Jim Fuller does. I've also wanted to try KNS' small diameter front sight posts, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Honestly, Attero has made noticeable improvements to their mount. I would bet it is better than the Midwest Industries mount (even MI admits that it is not their heavy duty mount). However, I can't tell you that from personal experience and won't be able to. I will continue support good companies like MI (and UW soon). MI's handguards are great, their new smooth side models with removable rails and optic specific top handguard look to be a great option.
Nate's guerrilla marketing scheme was inexcusable. He didn't drop the charade after he was caught at a couple of boards, he even started new "review" posts as a "customer" after he had been outed. Nate had a very long PM conversation with me early on keeping up the "I'm just a customer" thing. It shows lack of respect for the gun community in general that he thought he could spam a review on almost every Gun board known to man and nobody would be wiser. If somebody in the company that I could confirm that was not Nate reached out to me I might reconsider, but that I don't think is going to happen with me. The final statement in the second link I don't give much value to since I can't really confirm it is made by someone other than Nate. Note that the third link is actually the first post while he was trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes.
EDIT: Some more info and typo fixes now that I'm not typing from my phone.

I use both... ...an Aimpoint... ...in conjunction with irons:

First post
I have the Midwest Industries Mini Dot mount.
It is actually very solid from what I can tell. Now with that said I would not trust it on my SHTF rifle. If you want something for fun and plinking go ahead! it will serve you well!
My opinion as far as irons over optics.
I think you should become familiar with irons first then go to optics. Now this is the situation I am in, I dont think you should have a red dot on there unless it is a higher quality one.
since I can not afford an aimpoint and a better mount I have decided to just go back to my irons. My plan is to do the fuller rear sight and a blade night sight post up front. I think this will give me simple yet robust set up for my SHTF rifle.
Now, if you can afford a high quality red dot then go for it. But if you are depending on this rifle to keep you and your family safe, keep it simple and don't rely on a sub-tier red dot!
I think the TWS dog leg rail cover or the KREBS rail cover are more along the lines of what you need to be using with a QD mount.

I have been using irons on my SGL21 for a while now because I wanted an optic that was as durable(or close as possible) as an AK. After having watched the Daniel Defense torture test I have concluded that I will be getting an Aimpoint Micro once I have the $500 to drop on it.
I personally much prefer the AK sights over the AR. I aim able to get on target much faster with the AK irons. I got a set of Meprolight tritium sights about 6 months ago and they make acquiring your target in low light condition so much better. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting better low or no light visibility from their iron.

Irons are fine on an AK. Certainly they can be used effectively both at close ranges and far. I've had them out to 350 yards and could make reasonable hits on the target with the limitations of the x39 cartridge.
But I've got an Aimpoint Micro sight on both of my primary AK's and I'm not going back to irons unless I have to.
Mine are mounted on an Ultimak as I also have a flashlight mounted with a Vltor mount. If I can find a better way to mount the light I'd probably ditch the Ultimak and move them both to a Texas Weapon Systems rail.

I´m thinking about getting Vortex SPARC on my Vz 58, it would be mounted on upper handguard.
I saw a lot micro-dots here runned in this configuration on AKs here. Is it really a good solution talking field of view and aquring the targer wise?

It is legitimately a good solution for the vz-58, especially when you consider that the alternative is a very high side optic. At least with the upper hand guard mount it could conceivably co-witness.

Well, I really don´t believe, it would co-witness. Solution may be getting a mount with which I can look under the mounted red dot or quick detach mount - when my red dot dies, just detach it, dump it in pouch and continue to engage my targets using iron sights.
