I really dig these MK18-inspired builds you've been posting pictures of, but with the higher costs as a result of government restrictions upon such firearms, additional control measures, and the additional cost of, and wait time for, the tax stamp permission slip, I'd rather get a Tavor SAR or Tavor X95.

Cost would be VERY comparable. Tavor SAR is about $1700. Tavor X95 is unavailable but will be about the same price. A LMT 10.5 is about 1300 + 200 tax stamp. 5 month wait on E file. In the big scheme of things it really comes down to whether you want a SBR AR or a bullpup.

I want someone to hurry up and make the decision that factory SBRs are a valid choice from IWI US. 10.5" X95 would be like a better version of the carbine they give to our tank/helo crews, and that thing is a cracking weapon.

A lightly used Tavor SAR can be had for sub-$1500, & will like go down even further as the new hotness X95s hit the market. Also, with the SBR you have to notify the ATF if you take it out of state, or move, or you go to sell the thing.

With an SBR you have to eat the tax of $200, sending a form to the BATF when traveling out of state is a piece of cake, I have all mine on a form and send it in once a year (an out of state move can be good for up to 1 year). Negotiating BATF paperwork really is pretty easy once you learn the process, but SBR's aren't for everyone. There's a reason when someone buys an NFA item, they usually become a "stamp collector". I don't think we have a single team member that has only one stamp.

That can is built like a tank, but honestly is too long and heavy to be hanging off the end of a carbine. So, He bought the Specwar K. Its perfect, the right size, not too heavy and uses the same mounts as the SW762. He likes the K alot, and so do I. I think you will be very happy with it.

Just because it fits in with earlier comments; 10.5" barrel on an X95 would be 20" long. I've noticed that you can pin and weld muzzle devices to increase legal OAL. Can one do this with (certain, I gather not all would work, for sure) supressors? 6" suppressor would make for a 26.5" gun which would only require the stamp for the supressor. In 300BLK could be a neat toy?

Here's another Mk18 inspired build owned by a fellow teammate. Primary purpose is a substitute for his full size AR when a SBR is desired, and future suppressor host. This is a fairly new build and so we will hold out on the reliability data until it has a few thousand rounds through it. SBR Parts: Lower: Anderson Lower Parts: PSA Trigger: ALG ACT Upper: PSA w/ 10.5" CHF FN Barrel Handguard: B5 Trigger Guard: B5 Grip: Magpul Stock: Magpul Optic: Aimpoint PRO Rear Sight: Chopped carry handle Sling: Viking Tactics BCG: Aim Nitride
