I run Blade-Tech stuff and love them. They have many different set ups, but unfortunately their website struggles. What I mean is that it is hard to understand what works with what. Find a holster and web search or youtube it and see some different setups.

Any love for the Bianchi/Safariland M12? Flap, attaches to any belt from a 1.5" belt to an old-style pistol belt. Will attach to PALS, but will slip around a bit as it's designed for the 2.25" pistol belt not two rows of PALS. Can be quickly switched from left to right hand, and they make a kit to take the flap off and turn it into a thumb break if you want. The metal loop in the top left of the pic is the original tuck tab. it tucks under the rubber harness that the wire attachment/flap attaches to. Downsides are it's not really made to attach to PALS webbing, and it doesn't accommodate a light. Had everything from a thin 1911 to the fat boy Glock 21 in it. Have to push the Glock in, but it goes. It's sized for that big-assed full sized Beretta 92, so most guns fit fine.

Hudson, the more I think about it, the more I'm liking the UM84. You can also get a thumb strap attachment if you don't like the flap, granted it may not fit all pistols with the thumb strap. Have you tried the MOLLE adapter for it? Like this one: www.amazon.com/Bianchi-Military-BMUAB-Universal-Adapter/dp/B0052D1MN4I'll probably get a tan one, or paint it since all of my other battle belt gear is coyote brown. My current pistol doesn't have any options from the major holster makers, and the UM84 should fit whatever pistol I get when I upgrade.

I didn't know they had an adapter. I don't run a MOLLE belt, so I never looked. Should work fine, though.
Also, the whole reason I bought it was to get a flapped holster, if one is going for an open-top, I'd really go for a Blade-Tech or Safariland.

I have a UM84 on a Specter Gear drop panel (not made anymore) that I love dearly. I modified the vertical strap and removed the upper thigh strap so it would ride higher. It is my dedicated hiking holster. It is just low enough to clear a full size pack's hip belt, comfortable enough to wear all day, and secure. The UM84 holsters don't get the credit they are due.

The UM84, could be a model for a UW Gear Inc holster, in light-bearing and non-light-bearing, along with MOLLE compatible and drop-leg models, of course. I went with a Safariland holster with an SLS and ALS, I took the hood guard off, for my G19 with a TLR-1HL, simply because there wasn't a flapped holster option which I liked. I don't think side-released buckles should be on pouches nor holsters containing items which may need to be quickly accessed when under pressure. Some of you all may be able to easily deal with them, but I'm not among your numbers. I like the UW Gear Inc tuck-tab, snaps, and/or dare I even say, Velcro, for what I consider "quick-access" items.

+1 on the UM84/M-12. Love mine, with or without the flap. I bought the thumb strap, and will probably get all the additional accessories eventually.

...Any love for the Bianchi/Safariland M12?…. If I recall correctly, then it is designed to hold a cleaning rod, too.

Anyone have solutions for securely attaching a UM84 to MOLLE/PALS? Supposedly, the MLS attachment will attach to it, but I haven't seen anyone actually do that. I really should get a good holster for my battle belt (currently using an AR shingle pouch, less than ideal) but I want it to attach securely and not be able to wobble back and forth.

Ditto: I carry the Glock 41 now, but it would fit Glock 34/35 etc. maybe 1911-A1 etc.
-flapped holster - 5-7 degree forward cant - single UBG tuck tab closure like UB Mag pouches - completely covers the pistol - possible Kydex stiffening in webbing backpart / spine interfacing with Molle. - two strip molle, intefacing with three rows of battle belt molle - mounting low - top/front of the flap just at the top of the BB - heel of the butt a bit higher by <.75" - No integrated mag pouch or drop leg!
A flapped holster would absolutely, be preferred for an AC who expects to be patrolling for extended periods in Oregon weather and mud. WiIl pay $125+ for what I want:

Is the Safariland ALS still the hotness? www.amazon.com/Safariland-Paddle-Slide-Shield-Holster/dp/B00L55G49A?th=1Got my Shield and looking for a decent holster for my pistol belt. Primary use is that it sits on the nightstand during sleep, but I like it to be able to work in other capacities too. Will probably do a rough Kydex holster via my own hands until I have more money spare to get an ALS though.

I got an SLS holster with the ALS added to it, for when I was considering doing armed security work. Its just as fast as a regular SLS holster, in my opinion, given how the ALS system is operated. If you just want the ALS mechanism, but want to protect your rear sights, you could get an SLS/ALS holster and remove the SLS system. The body of the holster will cover the rear sights, except for the back, of course, since the body of the holster has to extend that much by virtue of the design of the SLS system. I still want Safariland to make the Ranger Regiment Holster for Glock 19s...
